Solnhofen Stone is a natural limestone extracted from quarries in Germany, specifically in Solnhofen, Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen, Franconia, Bavaria. This sedimentary rock exhibits an earth grey or gold-beige background adorned with fossilized imprints of prehistoric plants and animals. The stone's texture is typically honed or split, resulting in a smooth and matte finish.
Renowned for its durability and resistance to wear and tear, Solnhofen Stone finds versatile applications both indoors and outdoors. Commonly used for flooring, wall cladding, and countertops, its aesthetic appeal extends to decorative elements such as backsplashes and fireplace surrounds.
The distinctive and historical appearance of Solnhofen Stone contributes to its popularity, making it a preferred choice for a wide range of design projects, whether they lean towards modern or traditional styles. Its unique blend of earth tones, coupled with the fascinating fossilized imprints, adds a touch of timeless elegance to various architectural and design endeavors.

To Whom it May Concern, I want to buy Solnhofen Stone. Do you offer stone samples? I am trying to match an existing stone floor for a home that was constructed in 1995. The surface finish of the existing looks to be sandblasted, please see attached photos for reference. I believe the size is approximately 12"x12" but will confirm first thing tomorrow morning when I have a colleague back at site. We only require one box I believe. I would be curious to know the material cost as well as the box quantity. I will inquire with our client whether they would like overage. Thank you in advance,

Hello, I am looking for 50 square feet (includes overage) of Solnhofen Stone/ Solnhofen Limestone(attached) tiles to use in a floor tiling project. Ideally I'd like to tile with a significant number of dendritic fossils in them. The US supplier is only listed as selling limestone slabs so I'm wondering if there is a way for me to find cut bathroom wall tiles, and to specify fossil inclusions. I am flexible on tile size but since it's a small field I would prefer small format tiles. Thank you for considering this inquiry.
