Pietra Giallo Oro
Pale yellow uniform sandstone with fine to very fine grain and partial orientation of the constituent granules.
It is a porous rock, and the interstices between the granules are only partially occupied by the limpid carbonatic concrete.
It is predominantly made up of fragments of carbonatic algae, foraminifera shells, fragments of echinoderms and glomerules of micro crystalline calcite. Less frequent are quartz, fragments of magmatic rocks and flint.
According to the petrographical study and the NCE-CE-CI Zuffa diagram (1980), Giallo oro is classified as calcarenite.
