One morning in 1927…….
The founder Cav. Giovanni Colalillo created the company almost because forced to; he was a construction worker and couldn’t stand the constant delays in delivery by his supplier of natural stones.
With the spirit of challenge that he later transmitted to his heirs, he leaves for Carrara and buys the first small marble cutting machine.
Since then many decades have passed and none of the current employees remember ever having actually seen that machine function, but it’s still there, covered with dust and rust.
We’ve never wanted to move it to remind our collaborators, balanced between the impetuous force and great grindstones of the machines that now cut slices as big as cars and the exasperated aseptic mode of the computers that control them, that in spite of the technologies utilized, it’s not possible to change the nature of something millions of years old….
That’s the beauty of natural stone; we could use the most arid technology but would never be able to produce two exact floors! Our job is to render usable to man that which the earth has given him.
Whoever chooses a stone, marble or granite floor should know that he is buying something unique and not repeatable; a new emotion day after day.
The spirit that has always guided us has always been of total respect for nature of the product to conjugate with the most modern technologies in order to make the best emerge from the block.
It’s not an easy task, nature is often jealous of its treasures; experience, attention, tenaciousness and good taste are needed in order to use them. For these reasons, together with innovative technology, which permits us to proudly use machinery exclusively of our conception, we can guarantee that little plus to our clients that allows us to export our products and our little model worldwide.
